What Is Iris Photography?
Iris photography is a specialist form of close-up photography designed to capture the incredible detail of the coloured part of your eye.
Using specialist lighting, macro photography techniques and professional image processing, I capture the tiny patterns, textures and colours that make your iris completely individual.
The result is a highly detailed digital photograph that can be enjoyed on its own or turned into beautiful wall art.
Your iris can contain incredible colours and patterns that you may never have noticed before — and when photographed professionally, they can look absolutely spectacular.
What Happens During Your Iris Photography Session?
The process is simple and usually only takes a few minutes.
You will be asked to sit still for a few minutes while I prepare the equipment and make sure you are positioned correctly.
A bright light is used briefly to dilate the pupil, allowing me to capture as much detail from the iris as possible.
I then take two close-up photographs of the eye using a flash. The camera and lighting are positioned close to the eye to capture the fine detail, colours and unique patterns within your iris.
The whole process is quick and straightforward. I’ll talk you through what I’m doing throughout the session and make sure you’re comfortable.
The photographs are then professionally processed to bring out the incredible detail within your iris and create your finished artwork.

Because the process involves a bright light and a flash close to the eye, iris photography may not be suitable for everyone. If you have any concerns about bright lights, eye conditions or previous eye surgery, please get in touch before booking so we can discuss whether the session is appropriate for you.
