Set on the southern slopes of the Mendip Hills, overlooking the Somerset countryside, Webbington Hotel & Spa provides a fantastic setting for a wedding.
This wedding was a wonderful opportunity to capture everything that makes a celebration at the Webbington so memorable β the venue, the countryside surroundings, the people, the emotions and all those little moments that make the day uniquely yours.
As a Weston-super-Mare wedding photographer, the Webbington Hotel is also a fantastic local wedding venue for me to photograph. Located at Loxton, near Axbridge, Somerset, it is within easy reach of Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, Bristol and the wider Somerset area.
The Webbington Hotel & Spa is an established Somerset wedding venue offering a choice of ceremony and reception spaces, including the elegant Tiark Room and the outdoor Garden Gazebo.
The venue’s gardens, countryside surroundings and roof terrace provide plenty of opportunities for wedding photographs throughout the day. The hotel’s wedding information specifically highlights its terrace and countryside views as opportunities for wedding photography.
That variety is fantastic from a photographer’s perspective.
It means we can create a wedding gallery containing a mixture of:
πΈ Romantic couple portraits
β€οΈ Natural and candid moments
π Ceremony photographs
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Family and group photographs
π₯ Drinks reception photographs
πΏ Garden wedding photography
ποΈ Countryside portraits
β¨ Wedding details
π Fun photographs with friends and family
π Evening reception and dancefloor photography
For me, wedding photography isn’t simply about photographing the couple standing together.
It’s about telling the complete story of the wedding day.
The anticipation.
The nerves.
The laughter.
The emotion.
The hugs.
The speeches.
The unexpected moments.
And all the little interactions between people that you might not notice while you’re busy enjoying your wedding.
I’ll be looking for those moments throughout the day while also making sure the important formal photographs are captured.
One of the great things about the Webbington Hotel is the variety of spaces available for portraits.
The gardens provide natural surroundings, while the countryside views from the venue create opportunities for more dramatic photographs.
And then there is the roof terrace, which offers panoramic views across the surrounding landscape and can be particularly beautiful around sunset. The venue’s current wedding brochure specifically highlights the terrace as a location for welcome drinks, canapΓ©s and wedding photographs.
For the couple, my approach is simple.
We’ll take a little time away from your guests to create some beautiful photographs, but I won’t disappear with you for hours.
Your wedding day is for living and enjoying, not spending the entire day having your photograph taken.
I’ll give you enough direction to make you look your best while allowing your personalities and relationship to come through naturally.
My photography combines natural documentary-style wedding photography with creative portraiture.
I love finding interesting light, using the surroundings creatively and creating portraits that have a little more impact.
But I also want the photographs to feel genuine.
Years from now, I want you to look at your wedding photographs and remember how the day felt, not simply what everyone was wearing or where they were standing.
That means photographing the big moments and the small ones.
I’m Ian Phillips, the photographer behind Ian Phillips Photography, based in Weston-super-Mare.
The Webbington is ideally located for couples looking for a Somerset wedding photographer while still being close to Weston-super-Mare and Bristol.
The venue itself is in Loxton, Axbridge, with the M5 and wider Bristol/Somerset area easily accessible.
I regularly photograph weddings throughout:
Weston-super-Mare Β· North Somerset Β· Somerset Β· Axbridge Β· Loxton Β· Clevedon Β· Portishead Β· Bristol Β· Burnham-on-Sea Β· Bridgwater Β· Taunton Β· Wells and beyond.
That local knowledge can be useful when planning your wedding photography, particularly if you want to combine your venue photographs with another local location.
When you choose your wedding photographer, you’re trusting someone to capture memories that cannot be recreated.
That’s why experience, professional standards and reliability matter.

My work has received national and international recognition, but my approach to weddings remains relaxed and personal.
I want you to enjoy your wedding while I concentrate on telling its story.
Your wedding photographs should be more than a collection of posed images.
They should show your personalities, your relationships and the atmosphere of the day.
My approach is:
Relaxed enough to enjoy.
Professional enough to trust.
Creative enough to remember.
Whether you want natural documentary photographs, beautiful couple portraits, family photographs or a mixture of everything, I’ll work with you to create a collection that reflects your wedding.
If you’re planning your wedding at Webbington Hotel & Spa, I’d love to hear about your plans.
Whether you’re planning an intimate wedding, a larger celebration with family and friends or a full day of celebrations and evening entertainment, I’ll help you create photographs that tell the story from beginning to end.
